Danny Unrau
MCC Consultant / Pastor
Dan (Danny) Unrau was born & raised in Boissevain, Manitoba. He now lives in Richmond, BC. Dan has been married to the long-suffering Lois for 40 years, and they have 3 grown children, 2 sons-in-law, and 3 darling grandkids. The Unrau’s have no cats; & they never will.
Dan taught high-school English, History, Geography, and whatever else was needed in the curriculum in McBride and Prince George, BC. for 6 years, many years ago, and he has been a clergyman-pastor these last 3 decades. Before teaching and pastoring he was a student, a farm-worker, a failed door-to-door dry cleaner sales agent, a sawmill hand, a skill-less house-framer, a high-rise construction labourer, an Immigration officer, a paint salesman, a seller of Thrifty’s blue-jeans, a Keg-waiter, a Vancouver Giants hockey chaplain, a Family-Systems Theory presenter, and just lately has become an MCC agent, a Church trouble-shooter, & an HR consultant. He is a frequent Convention speaker, guest preacher/speaker, workshop facilitator and professional story-teller. Dan utilizes humour in much of his speaking, and yet found his work around death & dying to be his most satisfying work as a clergyman.
Dan has spent more years in school since graduating from high-school than he did getting to and past Grade 12, with some necessary repeats along the way, and he has a BA in Sociology, English & Religious Studies, an MA in Jewish Studies, and a DMin. in Leadership Studies.
Dan has lived in Manitoba, BC, Israel & Germany. He has authored 2 books of short vignettes about some of the weird & wonderful people he has encountered in life, and just recently released a novel entitled, You Are the Boy.
Dan has been an adjunct Seminary professor; tried to be a musician for some years, was what he deems to have been an unsuccessful guest on 100 Huntley Street, and every once in a while he gets asked to be on talk radio, mostly notably CBC. He thinks time is running out for him to become the next goalie for the Toronto Maple Leafs to win the Stanley Cup. Dan loves to tell stories, be in and cause trouble in places he thinks need shaking up a little, arguing just for the fun of it, and to be in other parts of the world, especially Manitoba, Europe & Israel, and more lately, Africa, when not at home.
